Message from the Dean
This is a very exciting time for the Australian School of Business as we officially launch the new School and move into our state-of-art building on the UNSW campus at Kensington. Our vision is to be the leading business school in Australia, and a peer in good standing with the best business schools in the world.
The Australian School of Business harnesses the teaching and research excellence of AGSM and UNSW’s former Faculty of Commerce and Economics, resulting in a single institution that is stronger than its two historic parts.

The Australian School of Business is widely recognised for producing industry-ready graduates who are attracted to the School’s reputation for delivering a high quality business education and the best career prospects. Our postgraduate students, who are looking for career advancement and transition, receive the highest return on their investment. Alumni of the Australian School of Business hold influential senior positions in industry and government worldwide.
The Australian School of Business Annual 07 is a snapshot of the School, bringing together stories about our outstanding students and teachers, world-class research, and close relationships with the business community.
The Annual shows the vitality of our research in projects as far-reaching and important as the Australian Institute for Population Ageing Research, which brings together UNSW researchers from a range of fields to tackle the crucial issues presented by ageing populations. It also includes an update on the Accelerated Learning Laboratory, which is fast-tracking a new breed of business leaders to meet the challenge of filling the leadership gap.
The pages that follow cover some of the latest work on consumer choice, funds management, employee ownership schemes, teamwork, information overload, and biosecurity. We also highlight the new School of Strategy and Entrepreneurship and Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Australian School of Business, giving a glimpse of exciting new directions in this field.
The Annual celebrates the success of the School’s community of students, academics and alumni leaders by profiling some of the many whose achievements exemplify what the Australian School of Business stands for: excellence in teaching and research, delivering an exceptional student experience and creating a vibrant and engaged community of alumni and business partners.
