Asia-Pacific Ubiquitous Healthcare Research Centre (APuHC)

APuHC is a UNSW Research Centre that evolved from ongoing collaborative research led by A/Prof Pradeep Ray (APuHC Director) with academics from UNSW faculties of business, medicine and engineering, UNSW research institutes such as Australian Institute of Population and Ageing Research (AIPAR) and Prince of Wales Medical Research Institute (POWMRI), industries, and overseas organizations from North America, Europe, and Asia.

The main objectives of APuHC are to conduct collaborative research in ubiquitous healthcare (u-Health) areas, such as:

  • u-Health Systems in different layers (Network, Applications, Service, Process and Governance)
  • Ontology-Based Multi Agent Systems (OBMAS) strategies for semantic interoperability and disaster management
  • Studies on the Impact of u-Health
  • Models for integrating u-Health in governance and business processes in situations such as disasters
  • Paradigms for Promoting Healthy Life with the help of governments and businesses
  • Pandemic and Bio-terrorism Control in collaboration with other global centres, such as WHO GOARN, APEC EAN-HIV, Korean Centre for Genome Sciences and APEC EINET
  • Intelligent care Model for Aged care based on the evolving service science paradigm.
