Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

Our Diversity Agenda

The Business School has developed an equity and diversity strategy that will:

  • Improve pathway programs and opportunities for recruitment for all student equity groups, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, women and students with a disability
  • Increase awareness and focus on diversity across the faculty. e.g. training in cultural competency, ALLY training (in support of the LGBTIQ community), mental health awareness and unconscious bias training
  • Ensure our faculty committees (internal and external) better represent our diversity targets
  • Amend stakeholder boards, including business advisory boards, and student bodies to reflect equity goals and targets in their membership
  • Adopt and follow best practice in flexible work, retention and care strategies for all staff, including equality of opportunity for people working part-time or with carer responsibilities and for women
  • Ensure gender-balanced hiring and promotion committees and short-listing processes
  • Expand and improve the Business School’s Academic Women’s Program to include mentoring for early career colleagues and senior academics to be sponsors for mid-career female academics and support this with faculty funding

The Business School aims to be a vibrant and inclusive work and study environment that celebrates diversity and treats all people with dignity and respect. As a Business School we will be a leading exemplar in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI); we will select and retain staff and students on the basis of merit and diversity. Irrespective of race, ethnicity, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, staff and students will be supported to be the best that they can be and will have access to all opportunities available in the Faculty and across the University.
