Application for exemption recommendation

For courses studied at other institutions (eg exchange, prior studies)

All students are required to submit an application to have an exemptions recommendation letter issued by the School of Risk & Actuarial Studies, for the Part I, Part II and Part III ST9 courses of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia.

Exemptions are usually granted for Part I courses when you have achieved Credit or above in the corresponding UNSW courses.

Application instructions

Students will normally need to have completed their degree before their application will be approved and forwarded to the Institute of Actuaries of Australia. There are two parts of the application involved:

  1. Electronic form
    Undergraduate students (on completion of your degree)
    Postgraduate students (on completion of your degree)
    Note the electronic form will need to be combined with:
  2. Physical Submission of your formal transcript
    For accreditation reasons we still currently require a copy of your formal transcript (note: a printout unfortunately cannot be accepted). However, to make it easier for you, you may choose to either (a) post it to the school (the mailing address is in the application links above) or (b) physically deposit it in the Exemption submission box outside the school offices (Room 653, Level 6 Business School Building).
