AGSM Careers Month

Every year AGSM Career Development Centre host an on campus recruitment period during September. We make it easy for you – just dress up and turn up! All top tier and mid-tier consulting firms, a variety of boutique firms plus a wide range of companies from AGSM affiliate sectors are invited to campus to present an information session. Students from the MBA Full-time cohort as well as the current EMBA Strategic Management Year (SMY), MBA (Specialistion) and Masters of Business & Technology (MBT) students are invited.

Each presentation is normally 1.5 hours, with a 45 minute presentation followed by 45 minutes of networking. Presentations will generally include information about the company, the culture, the types of roles on offer, potential career pathways within the company, timeframes for applications and application processes. For interstate students and/or students that also work and are unable to attend the presentations, Career Development Centre email daily updates upon request.

The networking component of the session is critical - this is your chance to stand out from the crowd. Do your research about the companies and prepare insightful questions which will impress our guests. Most companies will bring several representatives, many will be AGSM alumni. The companies are looking for AGSM students with excellent communication skills and shared values. Ensure you have practised your ‘pitch’ and you can comfortably describe your career goals and transferable skills.

Think broadly about your career options and be open to possibilities you may not have previously considered. Meeting representatives of the companies is an advantage when you proceed through the recruitment process as you will have had direct conversations and a clearer understanding about how you match the company’s culture and goals.

The full schedule for presenting companies is subject to change and will only be released two weeks prior.
