Internships & MBA projects

Employers have the opportunity to engage with AGSM MBA students prior to graduation through internships and Strategic Consulting Projects.

Internships

Internships are individual short-term projects or positions within companies, which are similar to a short-term contract.

Internships take place over 8-12 weeks during the course of a student’s MBA and are tailored according to the company’s requirements. Tasks or projects that the student works on during their internship can range from product development to strategy implementation.

Many previous students have been offered permanent roles within the company they have completed their internship with, as the experience provided an ideal way for the student and employer to assess each other.

AGSM MBA Strategic Consulting Projects

Strategic Consulting Projects provide companies with the opportunity for a team of full-time MBA students to work on a strategic company project.

The program provides substantial value and experience to all involved: the client, the team of students and the academic supervisor.

The core objective of the program is to provide students with a project challenge which demands rigorous investigation, analysis and synthesis in a team environment. Where possible, the projects should allow students to be exposed to a variety of departments and disciplines within a company.

Students work in teams (usually of 4 to 5 people) and are supported by an academic supervisor (an expert from the UNSW Australia Business School) and a project facilitator from the company.

Projects run over Session 3 (September – December) and Session 4 (January to April) of each year. Teams may choose to schedule their project to include week 12 (exam week) or to complete the project in the first 10 weeks of the session.

To get involved, please contact Jonathan Jones, Director of Operations and Student Recruitment, AGSM MBA Programs on +61 2 9931 9301 or j.jones@agsm.edu.au.
