Changes to assessments

Once a course has started, facilitators or course coordinators may change the requirements only after obtaining the agreement of all students concerned and advising Student Experience. In such instances, all students will be notified of the change via an official email communication from Student Experience.

Understanding assessment requirements

Courses include different forms of assessment, such as; class exercises, assignments, quizzes, tests and examinations. You need to ensure you have successfully attempted and completed all the required forms of assessments.

Failure to attend a class where instructions or work is provided, or to consult the relevant sections in the course materials relating to assessment requirements, is not a valid excuse for failing to complete an assessment and submit it on time.

It is important that you familiarise yourself with the assessment criteria including word or page count and due date and the special consideration policy.

Late submissions

All assessments are due by 0930am AEST on the morning of the date they are due.

AGSM MBA Programs require you to submit your work at the designated time in order to be fair and equitable. Failure to submit assessments on time, where prior approval of an extension has not been granted and where grounds for an extension do not exist, will result in a daily penalty of 5 per cent of the total marks of the assessment item being applied.

Requests for extensions

If you cannot meet the deadline for an assessment, you should discuss the situation with the facilitator or course coordinator well in advance of the due date. You should note that work-related circumstances are generally not acceptable grounds for extension. Serious illness or misadventure, or extreme and unpredictable circumstances, may constitute grounds for special consideration.

If you experience serious illness or misadventure in the lead up to an assignment or exam should make a request to the appropriate authority as early as possible. Requests for 2 day extensions can be directed to class facilitators prior to the due date. Requests for longer extensions or those received on the due date must be submitted online via myUNSW. Requests for Special Consideration must be submitted within 3 working days of the assignment due date.

Courses external to your program must be approved prior to enrolment in those courses. Courses undertaken at the University of New South Wales will be recorded as such and the grade awarded (numerical and alpha) will be entered into the student record as the final grade and included in the calculation of WAM (Weighted Average Mark). A course undertaken at any other approved tertiary institution will be recorded as completed on a Satisfactory/Fail basis only.
