The AGSM Career Comeback Sponsorships empower parents and carers who are on a career break to build the skills, confidence and network to return to and accelerate a post-break career.
Open to both men and women, but primarily designed to address the leadership gender gap in Australia, a Career Comeback Sponsorship is a fully funded professional development program to help you return to work and achieve your career goals.
AGSM 2019 Career Comeback Sponsorship recipients will receive:
AGSM is inviting applications from parents and carers on a career break, with no role to return to, who can demonstrate a commitment to returning to the workforce and building a leadership career.
Typically, applicants would have a minimum of five to seven years’ corporate or public sector experience, with some experience in entry-level management, right up to experience in senior leadership and executive roles. You may also be an experienced team contributor who is ready to step up to the challenge of people management.
Applicants must currently reside in Australia and intend to return to the workforce within 6 months.
Remember, the sponsorships are designed to build confidence – and applying is the first step!
AGSM will offer up to 30 sponsorships in 2019 to the candidates who can best demonstrate a commitment to returning to, and developing a leadership career, the experience, ability and commitment to contribute to the classes on their chosen pathway, and the impact of a sponsorship on their career journey.
Applications will be reviewed by a selection panel, comprised of representatives from AGSM @ UNSW Business School and business leaders. The panel will identify up to fifty short-listed candidates. Through a consultation process, up to thirty candidates will be selected for an AGSM 2019 Career Comeback sponsorship. Successful applicants will be notified the week commencing 22 July, 2019.
Successful and short-listed candidates will be invited to join The Career Comeback Network, an online community offering development, networking and recruitment opportunities along with career advice and support.
We understand that life as a parent or carer is busy, and this doesn’t stop for study.
Successful applicants must be available to attend the three day ‘Design Your Career Comeback’ course in Sydney from 21 August to 23 August. As part of your sponsorship, accommodation in Sydney will be funded for interstate sponsorship recipients and a reimbursable childcare subsidy of up to $60 per day for the duration of the three-day course is available to all recipients. The classes will be designed as ‘short days’ to accommodate school and day-care pickups and drop offs.
Some pre work will be sent to sponsorship recipients prior to the program and an online community will be set up to build and nurture a supportive Career Comeback network.
Applications can be made by clicking the “Apply Now” button below. This will take you directly to our online application form.
You will need to have a brief resume (max. 2 pages) ready to upload in Word or PDF format.
Research conducted at UNSW and externally indicates that a career break can be a limiting factor for the careers of parents and carers – in particular, women. Part of our role as a business school is to equip a new generation of leaders to contribute to a successful and progressive society. This includes increasing diversity in the Australian business and leadership communities to achieve a more equitable business future.
AGSM are committed to offering up to 30 Career Comeback Sponsorships in 2019.
If you have experience in corporate, public sector, for-purpose organisations or entrepreneurial role and are looking to return to work from a career break, then yes.
Remember, the sponsorships are about building confidence – and applying is the first step!
If you are unsure whether this is the right opportunity for you we welcome you to contact our Candidate Account Manager, Adele Seale at
email@example.com for a confidential discussion.
During the long-listing process, the application you submit will be our only means of evaluating your readiness and suitability for this opportunity, so please provide as much relevant information as possible.
Remember, if you think it might help – tell us!
If you can secure a role prior to commencing, that is excellent – and what we are aiming for!
You will still be eligible to participate in the Design Your Career Comeback course and join the online community.
