This course examines key concepts and current challenges in contemporary global tourism from the perspectives of government, business and consumers/visitors. Major challenges at the enterprise and destination level include sustainable tourism development and the conflicting imperatives of economic gains vs environmental and social impacts, the application of technology for competitive advantage and preparedness for and management of crises and disasters.The course focuses on their application to contemporary case studies, and development of skills and knowledge necessary for swift critical analysis and sound managerial decision-making in the context of the rapidly changing tourism business environment.
