Australian School of Business Student wins Minister's Student Achiever Award in Tourism

Ms Jiani Chen has received the Minister's Student Achiever Award in Tourism, presented by George Souris, the Minister for Tourism at Parliament House at a ceremony hosted by Tourism NSW.
Jiani Chen, a fourth year Bachelor of Commerce (Service Marketing, Hospitality and Tourism) student, was nominated by the Australian School of Business for the award which recognises someone who has a record of sustained academic achievement and who has demonstrated the capabilities and personal qualities required to make a significant contribution to the tourism industry in New South Wales.
Chen partook in an internship at the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority in the second and third year of her program, and has participated in several other tourism and social projects whilst studying at UNSW. These include WineFest 2008, World Youth Day 2008, The Rocks Winter Fashion show and the Chinese Garden Revitalisation.
Chen is also a member of professional student associations including AIESEC UNSW student society, and was the initiator and organizer of the China Sichuan Earthquake Fundraiser Event in partnership with Red Cross Australia.
Jiani Chen thanked UNSW for preparing her for a career in tourism. "I am thankful to UNSW for giving me such a comprehensive subject choice that enabled me to develop my skills, expand my capabilities and grow in confidence in order to become a successful tourism professional. I feel proud of what I have achieved and I am excited about my future career in the tourism industry," she said.
