Will the 2015 budget plug the revenue hole?

Tuesday, 5 May 2015  Features

As Federal Treasurer Joe Hockey readies his second Budget, Australia faces a triple whammy: slumping revenue from iron ore exports; falling domestic demand and collapsing consumer confidence.

Academics from UNSW Australia Business School give their independent analysis in a live podcast roundtable on Wednesday lunchtime, introduced by James Morley and moderated by Julian Lorkin, with reaction to key budget measures. The podcast will be streamed live before an audience in the Sydney CBD (at the BusinessThink 2015 Budget roundtable).

James Morley is a Professor of Economics and Associate Dean (Research) at UNSW Business School.

He says "We will give all tax measures an independent and thorough analysis in our podcast, along with other key budget measures including superannuation and identifying who is most affected by the budget measures. Importantly, we will give context and background to the budget measures as well as identifying areas the government has failed to address."

Journalists may take any part of the podcast for quotes, ask questions during the podcast via the live stream comment facility or via twitter using the hashtag #UNSWbusiness, or contact the academics for interviews later in the day.
