Director of Public Affairs appointment

Journalist, former Government policy adviser, and media and public affairs professional Janine MacDonald has been appointed as Director, Public Affairs for the Australian School of Business, at the University of New South Wales (UNSW).

As Director of Public Affairs, Janine will contribute to the engagement portfolio by building the domestic and international and profile and reputation of the Australian School of Business through the promotion of our research, the expertise of our academics, and the successes and achievements of our students and alumni. In particular she will focus supporting academic staff to communicate their research findings in high impact non-academic forums and in the media.

Janine is currently the Director of Public Affairs at The University of Western Australia (UWA), where she has spent the past five years.

A policy adviser to the West Australian Government in the early 1990s, Janine has worked as a journalist in state and national media including The Age (in the Parliamentary press gallery in Canberra) and The Australian newspapers.

She has also lectured/tutored in journalism at The University of Notre Dame Australia and Curtin University in Western Australia.

Janine will take up the position in early November and will report to Julie Cogin, Deputy Dean Engagement and Academic Development.
