Focus on Open Innovation

Wednesday, 18 May 2011  Features

The concept of open innovation will be the focus of discussion at an Australian School of Business Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Meet the Entrepreneur event.

The philosophy of open innovation is that in a world of widely distributed knowledge and swift movements in the marketplace, promoting the exchange, rather than the absolute protection, of research and innovation creates win-win solutions at every level.

The event will give budding entrepreneurs the opportunity to hear first hand advice from three leaders in their fields.

The three panellists include:

  • Darren Coomber, experienced in commercialisation and consultancy in public and private sectors, and CEO of Innovation Xchange Australia, an innovation services provider with clients in eight countries
  • Paul Levins, a former Adviser and Chief of Staff to Australian federal and state government ministers, expert on public sector policy, and former Executive Officer and Vice President at the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers
  • Darren Williams, knowledgeable in areas of security vulnerabilities and networking, and Chief Technology Officer and Director of, the world's largest outsourcing marketplace
  • Valerie Khoo, noted journalist, will act as the moderator. Khoo is an experienced entrepreneur herself, having founded the Sydney Writer's Centre in 2005.

CIE's Meet the Entrepreneur event will take place on 26 May 2011 at 5:30pm.
