Kerry Humphreys awarded 2011 ALTC Citation

Kerry Humphreys, accounting lecturer at the Australian School of Business, has been awarded an Australian Learning & Teaching Council (ALTC) Citation for her "Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning".

Kerry received the 2011 Citation for developing a 'strategy +numbers' approach that inspires and empowers students to become more effective business decision makers.

Using the 'strategy+numbers' approach, Kerry has developed curricula and resources that equip students to become managers who are able to view the organisational holistically and make better business decisions. She encourages student engagement through experiential education, bringing business experience into the classroom and making the content examined meaningful for students.

Peter Roebuck, Head of the School of Accounting at the Australian School of Business, congratulated Kerry on her achievement. "Kerry is an outstanding teacher with an exceptional ability to engage business students at all levels, to cultivate their intellectual curiosity and to inspire a passion for life-long learning. The ALTC citation validates what the staff and students at the School of Accounting have always known – Kerry is one of the very best accounting lecturers in Australia; we are all extremely proud of her achievements," he said.

Kerry will be presented with her Citation at the 2011 Australian Awards for University Teaching ceremony at the Sydney Opera House on 16 August 2011.
