A new report for the first time confirms this widespread belief, stating the importance of innovation, science and research as critical drivers of productivity and the building of future industries in Australia. But this report comes just as estimates suggest Australian Governments investment in science has reached a 30-year low with cuts to university research budgets also taking effect.
