A team of UNSW students has been awarded first place at the National Final of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) 2012 Global Business Challenge.

The UNSW team, Eva Consulting, was one of four teams selected to compete at the national CIMA finals. The Eva Consulting team challenge was to present a production company with a strategy for future growth in front of a panel of industry experts.

"We were given about 20 pages of brief which contained a range of business issues we had to sort through and prioritise," says team member Xiaofei Wu.

Team member Christine Zhou believes that the team's dedication helped them to stand out from their competitors, "we put a lot of work into our presentation. We focused on diversification, and it was important to get this message across as the judges were industry experts," she says.

The CIMA Global Business Challenge provides students with the opportunity to test their business management skills and gain practical experience as a chartered management accountant.

The Eva Consulting team was awarded $1000 and will represent Australia at the CIMA Global Business Challenge Final at Mount Lavinia, Sri Lanka in July.
