About Andrew

​​Not wasting any time after university, Andrew Wilson founded creative services agency, The Other Dimension with his brother Matt in 2005, the same year he graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce.

From humble beginnings in the loft of a Wollstonecraft townhouse, the brothers have since worked on creative accounts for brands including Philips, ING, Lotus Cars and the Sultanate of Oman Ministry of Tourism to name just a few.

These days, founding partners Matt and Andrew work in conjunction with a team of creative specialists in their St Leonards office covering almost all aspects of design and production.

I made my career choice because ...

I love the pursuit of ideas, and there's no better place to make a career of that than in an agency. I chose to start my own because I had a different idea of what an agency should look like - and because I love the challenge of building my own businesses as much as I love building clients'.

If I had known then what I know now, I would have ...

Focused on executing even the most basic business functions consistently well from the beginning, recognising their value alongside the flair and creative stuff that really gets me going.

The greatest lesson of my career so far has been ...

Ideas without execution don't generate revenue. Inspiration is only the beginning - it takes focus, discipline, and persistence to achieve results.

My most impressive achievement is ...

I'm still proud of the fact that at 24 years of age, I was able to win the Lotus Cars creative account for my agency. We serviced the account for two years (before they switched to a global agency arrangement) and during this time my creative work was singled out for acknowledgement by the global MD. It was a real confidence-booster to a young guy just starting out. Plus, working on a brand like Lotus Cars was a dream come true for an enthusiast like myself.

My most exhilarating experience so far has been ...

Driving said Lotus car for the purposes of 'brand immersion'. Also, experiencing the best that the Sultanate of Oman has to offer while on a familiarisation tour with their Australian tourism office (another client of ours) - it's an absolutely incredible place to visit. And yes, that's my personal opinion as well as my official one.

My biggest unrealised wish is ...

A secret. I'm working on the resources to fulfil it though.

Others say I ...

Think differently. In my line of work, that's generally a positive thing.

At the moment I'm inspired by ...

The future. It belongs to those who choose to create it, not wait for it. I guess it's like the Robert F Kennedy quote: 'There are those who look at things the way they are, and ask why... I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?' This outlook inspires me now, and it always has.
