About Brent

"The UNSW Business School has always led the way with many "firsts", whether it was offering part-time study, majors in marketing, industrial relations, information systems or overseas exchange programs.  The Alumni Leaders program is another such example and is a wonderful way to enable students, staff and alumni to help each other and also experience stronger ties with the UNSW. I value being a part of the Alumni network and the chance to share insights into other successful organisations and leaders in the Australian business community".

Brent Cubis was born in Sydney, where he was educated at St Ignatius College. He attended the University of New South Wales, graduating in 1984 with a major in Accounting and Information Systems and is a Chartered Accountant.

Brent has worked in various senior finance roles at a number of leading Australian companies across a broad range of industries, including PBL Media (CFO at Nine and prior to that the sister company ACP Magazines), Bankers Trust, Westfield and Sheraton Hotels. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte which included a 12 month transfer to the USA firm.

After more than 25 years in the corporate sector he moved to the NFP sector in 2009 to take up the position of CFO for the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse at RPA. After working as CFO for the National Home Doctor Service, he is currently CFO for Cochlear.

Brent has a range of broader pursuits including playing an active role in running marathons overseas and fund raising for Can Too Cure for Cancer - plus mentoring programs at various high schools and other groups.

Brent is married to Robyn and has four children. His interests include the family, golf, running, watching rugby and travel.
