About Emma

Emma Weston, MBA Class of 2006, is the Chief Executive and Managing Director of Featherston Resources Limited, a trans-Tasman resource company based in Dunedin and Sydney.

A former legal counsel for the Australian Wheat Board (AWB), Emma has extensive involvement and expertise in the agriculture sector: Her family owns and operates a grain farm in Central West NSW and she is currently  a non-executive director and shareholder of Agfarm Pty Ltd and a member of the Sustainable Soils Management Advisory Board.

I made my career choice because ...

When I moved away from legal practice into management I realised I had found my niche. I work in the dynamic agribusiness and mining sectors which are more exciting and more innovative than people may think. I am kept grounded by all of our stakeholders who provide challenges and excitement. We have a wonderfully supportive team across two countries in Australia and New Zealand.

If I had known then what I know now, I would have ...

Had to have been a very strong person to resist the lure of changing what I have done (and when, and how), but I hope I would have had the strength to allow myself the journey.

The greatest lesson of my career so far has been ...

That my success is dependent on the contribution, passion and commitment of others. When I motivate and guide that commitment and match it with my own, great things can happen.

My most impressive achievement is ...

My blended family of four children; including three stepchildren - honestly it has not always been easy.

My most exhilarating experience so far has been ...

Speeding down a 38km descent in Bhutan as a first time mountain biker – wow, I felt amazing.

My biggest unrealised wish is ...

To write a book.

Others say I am ...

Extremely organised and can be depended on.

At the moment I'm inspired by...

The thought of delivering to our shareholders the business they have dreamed of and invested in over many years.
