About Prem

Prem Ramburuth is Professor in International Business in the School of Management and has held several positions in the Business School including Associate Dean Education, Associate Dean Undergraduate Programs, Associate Head and Head of the (former) School of Organisation and Management, and Foundation Director of the Education Development Unit. She is also Immediate Past President of the Academic Board at UNSW. 

Prem researches and teaches in Cross-Cultural Management in Business and the Internationalisation of Higher Education. She has published in high ranking Business and Management journals including the Journal of International Business, Journal of World Business, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Global Information Technology Management, Organizations and Markets in Emerging Economies and Chinese Management Studies. Her publications in Higher Education journals include Higher Education, Journal of Teaching in International Business, Accounting Education, International Journal of Learning, and Multicultural Education and Technology Journal. She has been on the editorial board of the Academy of Management Learning and Education, and currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal for Multicultural Education Chinese Management Studies, and International Journal of Emerging Markets.

Her more recent research focuses on ‘Development in Emerging Economies’, specifically in the areas of education, training and capacity building, gender equity and the empowerment of women in emerging economies.  These areas of research and engagement intersect with her roles as Academic Lead for Africa (UNSW Institute for Global Development), UNSW PLuS Alliance Fellow, and UNSW Academic Research Lead for PLuS Alliance Africa. Her additional roles in academic governance include Immediate Past Chair of the Academic Board of the NIDA, member of  the Australian Tertiary Education and Quality Standards Agency (TEQSA) Panel of Experts, member of the Academic Board of Lincoln Higher Education Australia, and assessor in academic governance in Higher Education institutions nationally and internationally. Prem is also Visiting Professor at Gulu University, Uganda.
