About Richard

I am Professor of Business Analytics at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Business School, Australia and Emeritus Professor of Systems Thinking at the University of Hull, UK. Following fifteen years working in the IT industry I held academic positions at the University of Bath, UNSW, and the University of Hull. My current research focuses on the management and organisational aspects of business analytics and data science. I also teach business analytics on MBA and executive courses. For evidence of scholarly impact of my research, see Google Scholar. My interest in systems thinking and action research is supplemented by quantitative skills that include predictive modeling, partial least squares path models, and social network analysis, all implemented primarily using R. I am a member of the UK Operational Research Society’s Analytics Development Group and active in third sector business analytics. Further details of my work can be found on my blog
