Sarah has been teaching in the School of Management since 1995. Her research spans diverse subjects related to the world of work - from the social history of the Titanic sinking to aircraft maintenance and safety, and the memorialisation of labour. She is also Branch President of the NTEU at UNSW. Her latest project on the West Gate bridge disaster. This project researches the West Gate Bridge’s collapse during construction, with a focus on the history of the disaster, how it is remembered today, and how to use its lessons to support ongoing action for better workplace health and safety.
