Wendy's career in marketing and communications spans 30 years in both the public and private sectors.
She is Director and Executive Vice President of Mitsui & Co (Australia) Ltd, a global trade and investment enterprise.
Her most recent government roles have been as Australian Consul-General in Japan, where she was based in Fukuoka. When there, she successfully attracted foreign investment to benefit Australia's food services, biotechnology, IT and energy sectors.
Following her Japan posting, she was based in Perth as State Director of Western Australia/South Australia/Northern Territory for the Australian Trade Commission.
Wendy has also worked as national communications executive in the sectors of energy, infrastructure and engineering, and professional services. She has held positions in companies such as Caltex, GHD and Ernst & Young. Wendy is a proponent of innovation as the key to corporate sustainability, and has championed innovation programs in all these companies.
Accustomed to dealing with stakeholders at the most senior level, Wendy has served on government and education institution boards. She was recently appointed to the Maggie Beer Foundation, which works to improve the wellbeing of residents in aged-care facilities around Australia.
Wendy achieved a Master of Commerce in Finance (UNSW), and has mentored high-achieving students in the UNSW Alumni Leaders Mentor Program. Her under-graduate degree is from Sophia University in Tokyo, and she speaks and reads Japanese.
Wendy lives in Sydney with her husband and children. Her interests are playing sport, reading and travel.
