Dean's List for Academic Excellence

Undergraduate

The UNSW Business School Dean’s List for Academic Excellence was established to recognise the outstanding achievements of its undergraduate students. It recognises the top 3% of students in the Business School single and double undergraduate degree programs, based upon performance in our courses in the previous calendar year. All Business School courses taken in 2018 will, therefore, count towards the 2018 Dean’s List. Recipients of the Award are presented with a certificate, an entry is recorded on their academic transcript and their names published on our website. Please see here for previous years’ recipients.

Eligibility

The Award is only available to students who have successfully completed a minimum of 24 units of credit (UOC) of Business School courses in the previous calendar year (industrial training/experience and exchange courses are not counted as completed units of credit). The Award is not available to students for their honours year.

Selection

Selection is based on a student’s WAM across Business School courses completed in the previous calendar year. Awards will be granted for the following stages (stages are based on UOC for all courses, not just Business School courses):

  • Stage 1: 0-48 UOC completed
  • Stage 2: 49-96 UOC completed
  • Stage 3: >96 UOC completed

As the top 3% of students are selected, the cut-off WAM may vary from year to year and from stage to stage. Students may only receive a Dean's List Award once for each Stage.

Note

The recipients of the 2018 Dean’s List Awards for Excellence will not be available before 15 April 2019. Students are strongly encouraged to arrange credit transfer applications as soon as possible. Any students applying for transfer of grades from cross-institutional study and/or exchange are advised to apply before the university shutdown period (18 December 2018 TBC). Late grades may affect your eligibility for inclusion on the Dean’s List.

Please email if you have any UG Dean’s List queries.

Postgraduate

The Business School Dean's List for Academic Excellence in the postgraduate portfolio was established to recognise the outstanding achievements of its postgraduate students in each Masters program. It recognises the top student in each individually-coded Masters program or specialisation, who is eligible to graduate, based upon overall performance (WAM) in that individual program or specialisation.

Recipients of the Award are presented with a certificate, an entry is recorded on their academic transcript and their names published on our website.

Please see here for previous years' recipients.

Eligibility

The Award is available only to students enrolled in Masters Programs, who have successfully completed all program requirements and are eligible for graduation. Students must also qualify to graduate ‘with Excellence’.

The award is not available to students enrolled in Graduate Certificates and Graduate Diplomas.

Selection

The top student from each program/specialisation who satisfies the eligibility criteria will be awarded. This list is determined by specific criteria including the student's overall WAM, which must be of sufficiently high standard regardless of ranking, and the student must have successfully completed all course requirements and be eligible to graduate with the Masters degree 'with Excellence'.

Students may receive a postgraduate Dean's Award once only.

Please email if you have any PG Dean's List queries.

*Please note: AGSM conducts its own prizes, as a result, AGSM students are not eligible to be considered for these prizes. Find out more information about AGSM prizes here.
