UNSW Business School features state-of-the-art learning environments that include a simulated trading floor and flipped classrooms. There are rooms exclusively for postgraduate and research students, beautiful outdoor study areas for everyone, and
room bookings for staff and ARC members.
There are three UNSW buildings dedicated to business studies -
The Business School,
The Quadrangle and
AGSM – you can visit them with a
campus tour. All buildings make it easy for you to access and share digital files, whether charging your laptop from a sunlit balcony lounge or sharing your monitor on every screen in a flipped classroom.
The Business School
Map reference E12
This building is home to the schools of
Banking & Finance,
Economics,
Management, and
Risk & Actuarial Studies. It has six floors available for classes and study. The ground floor is called The Place. In
The Place, you will find flipped classrooms,
study booths and
iLab, our simulated trading floor.
The Place
Flipped classrooms place the class leader in the middle of working groups. The groups sit at desks and interact with shared screens. This style of learning develops career-strengthening skills in leadership and teamwork. Here, you are supported to lead discussions, share your insights, and collaborate with others.
iLab
The iLab is designed to mimic a trading floor. Here, you can experience the highs and lows of trading, along with developing a practical understanding of the financial services industry. iLab features custom-designed furniture, state-of-the-art technology and a computer lab available to use outside of class time.
Study spaces
If you need dark, quiet and cosy places to focus, The Place offers study booths and a low-lit room (which is also good for a quick nap). Levels 1 and 2 are newly renovated and provide brighter study areas. Choose from sunlit window seating, group work in the open plan, or discreet booths.
Classrooms
Our standard classrooms and lecture rooms are on levels 3 to 5. They feature user-friendly technology for presenting and sharing media. For more information on each room, visit
UNSW Learning Environments.
The Quadrangle
Map reference E15
The Quad has a grassy courtyard that is good for practising dance moves or eating lunch in the sunshine. On the balcony and patio overlooking the courtyard you’ll find study booths and tables.
The building also offers you a food court, pharmacy, travel agent, stationery store, medical centre and the
Business School Student Centre. The schools of
Accounting,
ISTM,
Marketing, and
Taxation & Business Law are on levels 2 and 3. There are several
CATS rooms, a
postgraduate study room, and
Bizlab, our dedicated research room.
Business School Student Centre
For questions about your enrolment that Google or the
Student Portal can’t answer, come to the
Business School Student Centre. The Centre can help with changes to your enrolment, issues around your assessments, and other study-related matters. Find the Centre on the first floor of the Quad.
The Balcony
The balcony and patio surrounding the Quad's courtyard make the most of Sydney's weather. The undercover tables and booths let you study or take a break in fresh air and sunshine.
CATS
The recently renovated Centrally Allocated Teaching Spaces (CATS) encourage collaboration and information sharing. Unlike
The Place, these rooms are set up like a standard classroom but with more whiteboards for practising formulas (and ok, drawing cartoons).
Postgraduate study room
Postgraduate students have exclusive use of this retreat in the Quad. It has swipe card entry to a room with kitchen appliances, tea & coffee, and a separate study area. If you’d like to know more, visit
Postgraduate Facilities.
BizLab
BizLab is where research students and academics run experiments on how people make decisions related to business and economics. The lab provides a variety of research technologies, including augmented and virtual reality. All are welcome to take part in research projects - find out more on the
BizLab website.
AGSM
