Girls in Business – High Risk to High Tech is an immersive winter camp designed for girls in year 10 and 11 who want to explore their future in the Information Systems and Actuarial industries. This exciting new program is a collaboration between UNSW Business School and industry partners to build confidence and participation in the Information Systems and Actuarial industries within females.
This opportunity will be run for the first time in 2019 and give students the chance to gain an in-depth understanding of the worlds of Information Systems and Actuarial Studies, as well as experience what life as a UNSW student could be like.If you are a female student in year 10 and 11 with an interest in technology and/or risk, apply today!
The camp will run from Monday 8th July to Wednesday 10th July 2019 inclusive. The two streams (Information Systems and Actuarial Studies) will run concurrently at the UNSW Kensington Campus in Sydney and will be coordinated by the UNSW Business School. On Day 2 of the camp, participants will be taken off site for two industry experiences. Students will be supervised by university staff throughout the program.
This workshop is open to Sydney and Greater Sydney female students in year 10 and 11 who have expressed a genuine interest in Information Systems and Actuarial Studies. Places are limited and students will have to apply to attend this camp.
All students must be studying mathematics (as a minimum) to be eligible to apply for this camp.
The programs run at no cost to the student. The UNSW Business School will cover all costs associated with the camp, including food and accommodation. However, participants are responsible for their own transport to and from the camp.
Program participations will be staying in the residential accommodation at the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM), onsite at UNSW Kensington Campus. University staff will also stay here and will supervise the participants.
The camp will allow students to gain an in-depth understanding of the world of Information Systems and Actuarial Studies through
Attendees will also be able to get a glimpse into the life of a UNSW student through living on campus during the camp, campus tours and night activities including a careers panel and networking dinner.
All students who attend the camp are expected to fully participate in all activities set down in the program.
In addition to the student section and the parent/guardian consent, a relevant Teacher, your Year Level Coordinator or your careers Advisor must complete school declaration. This is to ensure that your relevant Teacher, Year Level Coordinator or Careers Advisor is not only aware of your application, but also that they are fully supportive of it.
1. Discuss the camp with your Teacher / Year Level Coordinator / Careers Advisor and parents first.
2. Print off the following forms and ensure they are signed by your parent/guardian and school representative.
Applications open May 1st and close on Friday May 31st.
All students will be notified of the result of their application by Friday June 14th.
